Came here for dinner for a group of 5! Since there aren't many authentic Chinese places in Baltimore, I was excited to hear about Panda BBQ's opening and to try it out.
The food is indeed very authentic in comparison to many of the Chinese restaurants here - we got the skewers, fried rice, mini beef/meatball hotpot, dumplings and popcorn chicken. Everything was made on the spot, and I appreciated that the skewers and popcorn chicken were both well seasoned, as other Yelpers have pointed out.
Heads up for anyone considering coming here, it's a bit on the pricier side and each kebab is around $2. There's a bit of a wait since everything is cooked fresh, and we waited around 30-40 minutes for our food to arrive. Also - the hotpot can be quite spicy, which we didn't see on the menu. Hopefully this will be updated on the future.
All this being said, this charming restaurant serves delicious Chinese food! I encourage checking this place out as a means to support the revitalization of old Chinatown and I look forward to seeing more Chinese restaurants in Baltimore! -

The only mala place in Baltimore City and the mini hot pot is great value for money. ok
This single serving of beef slices, tofu, mushrooms and veggies is only $10.
If you have not tried mala before, you should be prepared: it's a combo of hot ginger, chilli oil, Sichuan pepper corn, dried chilli peppers, which is literally numbing, the chillis have a kick and bite.
It's unlike other spicy Asian soups like kimjigae or tom yum. -

I would describe this place as a hole in the wall that serves authentic chinese bbq on skewers. The most surprising thing about Panda BBQ was the large selection of different types of meats you could grill on skewers. There was also a very large vegetarian selection.
I got their lamb, beef, chicken, and chicken gizzard skewers which were all grilled nicely and seasoned very well. I definitely will have to come back to try the other skewers and some drinks with it too (the skewers would go great with a cold beer). I also ordered the beef hot pot which reminded me of szechuan food because of their use of hot chili and numbing peppers. The hot pot had a large variety of different ingredients that you would find in your typical hot pot as well, including fried tofu, bok choy, soft tofu, rice cakes, and glass noodles. Overall, the food was delicious and hit close to home; however, it was slightly too salty for my liking. I also wished there was some way of marking or labeling the skewers.
TLDR;
A great place to go to for some dope authentic chinese skewers.

Many describe Panda BBQ as a good "hole-in-the-wall" spot but it is so much more than that. When it comes to Chinese food, Panda BBQ has a little of everything- mini hotpot, kabobs/skewers, dumplings, fried rice, and it is ALL FANTASTIC! I've been a few times now and the quality remains consistent. If you'd like to dine in (which I recommend), Panda BBQ has additional seating upstairs and they're BYOB. Food you'll fall in love with + BYOB= A new favorite Baltimore restaurant!

Panda bbq is a great hole in the wall restaurant with easygoing vibes and tasty flavors. It is located on a side street of Mount Vernon, and it can be easily missed. Inside though, there are some tall stools where you can sit and enjoy a quick bite, but there are also many tables and seats upstairs on the second floor. After ordering the staff will bring the food upstairs to your table. I ordered some Lamb kebab as well as an intriguing bull balls dish. The price here is decent given the portions provided and there is a big list of items to choose from. The food took a while to cook but the taste was fulfilling, with each stick of meat liberally infused with spices. The restaurant feels more homecooked, which is strangely rare to find in a Chinese restaurant in Baltimore. The interior could be better decorated, but the tastes here are great.
